นายฐากร ตัณฑสิทธิ์ เลขาธิการคณะกรรมการกิจการกระจายเสียง กิจการโทรทัศน์ และกิจการโทรคมนาคมแห่งชาติ (เลขาธิการ กสทช.) เปิดเผยว่า สำนักงาน กสทช. เตรียมเสนอแผนการประมูลคลื่นความถี่เพื่อเตรียมขับเคลื่อน 5G ของประเทศไทย สำหรับการประมูลตามแผนจะเป็นการประมูลแบบ Multi Band หรือ การประมูลแบบหลายย่านคลื่นความถี่พร้อมกัน โดยมีแผนที่จะจัดการประมูล 2 ครั้ง โดยคลื่นความถี่ที่จะนำมาประมูลในครั้งแรก เป็นคลื่นความถี่ที่อยู่ในย่านความถี่สูง ได้แก่ คลื่นความถี่ย่าน 26 – 28 GHz พร้อมกับคลื่นความถี่ที่อยู่ในย่านความถี่กลาง ได้แก่ คลื่นความถี่ย่าน 2600 MHz และคลื่นความถี่ที่อยู่ในย่านความถี่ต่ำ ได้แก่ คลื่นความถี่ย่าน 700 MHz ส่วนคลื่นความถี่ที่จะนำมาประมูลในครั้งที่ 2 จะเป็นคลื่นความถี่ที่อยู่ในย่านความถี่กลาง ได้แก่ คลื่นความถี่ย่าน 3400 – 3600 MHz และคลื่นความถี่ย่าน 1800 MHz โดยในแผนที่เสนอจะเสนอให้บอร์ด กสทช. กำหนดเวลาประมาณการการประมูลคลื่นต่อไป
ทั้งนี้ แผนการประมูลคลื่นความถี่แบบ Multi Band เป็นการเตรียมความพร้อมเรื่องคลื่นความถี่ที่จะใช้ในการขับเคลื่อนให้เกิดเทคโนโลยี 5G ในประเทศไทย
The office of NBTC is aiming for approval from the NBTC board to release the multi-band spectrum auction plan in order to prepare for 5G
Mr.Takorn Tantasith, the secretary general of the national broadcasting and telecommunications commission or NBTC, states today that the office of NBTC is asking an approval from the NBTC board for the multi-band spectrum auction plan to drive the country towards 5G era. According to the plan, there will be 2 multi-band auctions. The first one will consist of higher frequency bands such as 26 – 28 GHz together with the middle band which is the 2600 MHz and the lower band of 700 MHz. For the second auction, there will be middle bands of 3400 – 3600 MHz and 1800 MHz that will be released altogether. The timeline for the auctions will be announced as soon as possible after the NBTC board approval of the proposed plan.
The multi-band auction plan is regarded as a means to prepare spectrum resources for the development and utilization of 5G technology in Thailand at a fast pace.
